Designing report from the frontend? #79

Hi KoolReport,

Is there any way for designing report to be done from the frontend (eg. report builder), instead of backend? This to ease the person writing sql statements for reports, where they can directly design reports themselves from the frontend (eg: by drag and drop), rather than going through the programmers to design using codes.

Appreciate your suggestion.

Thanks a lot.

Hi KoolReport,

Add on: Is it possible to integrate other reporting tools, example Crystal Report, into KoolReport?

Appreciate your help.

Thanks.

That's what we want to. We are designing a GUI reporting tool to allow user to insert SQL ( or using SQL builder ) to select data then he can choose table or graphs to display data. However you must understand that by using the tools, it will limit somehow the customization. Using programming code like this will maximize the controls over how data should be process and how to display data in the report.

Oh forgot the your question about connecting to CrystalReport, basically we will need a interface (datasource) object to facilitate connecting to Crystal Report and pull data. I will ask dev.team to further study this matter.

Hi KoolReport,

I am waiting for your updated version that consists of a GUI reporting tool to allow user to insert SQL ( or using SQL builder ) to select data then he can choose table or graphs to display data. I prefer this type of reporting tool because it will be easier for those people who don't know coding.
